When I launched Nudl, the vision was simple. Clean, Canadian-made skincare for tweens and teens. Safe ingredients. Simple routine. Nothing harmful, nothing unnecessary.
That vision hasn't changed. But something important has sharpened.
Over the past several months, as I've watched real kids use these products — including my own daughters Gia and Avi — a very specific picture came into focus. The kids reaching for Nudl weren't just any tweens and teens. They were young athletes. Kids with early morning practices and late tournament weekends. Kids who sweat through two-a-days and sit in the sun for hours and come home with helmet lines on their foreheads and chlorine-dried skin and turf burn on their knees.
And the parents buying Nudl? They weren't just any parents. They were sports moms — women who already invest deeply in their kids' performance, nutrition, recovery, and wellbeing. Women who read ingredient labels. Women who, once they understood what Nudl was actually doing for their child's skin, became the most passionate advocates the brand has ever had.
That realization didn't feel like a pivot. It felt like coming home.
The Problem Nobody Was Talking About
Here's something that rarely comes up in the conversation around youth sports: the skin takes an enormous beating.
Sweat — daily, heavy, prolonged — strips the skin's natural moisture barrier and depletes minerals the skin needs to stay healthy and resilient. Sun exposure at outdoor practices and tournaments accelerates oxidative stress on young skin. Helmet and equipment friction causes irritation and breakouts. Chlorine from pool training leaves skin chronically dry and compromised. Cold and wind during outdoor winter sports chip away at the skin barrier practice after practice.
And yet the conversation around athlete recovery almost never includes skin. We talk about protein, sleep, stretching, hydration — but nobody talks about the organ that's been working just as hard as every muscle underneath it.
Nudl does.
What Active Young Skin Actually Needs
Young skin — tween and teen skin specifically — is still developing. It's more sensitive than adult skin, more reactive to environmental stressors, and more vulnerable to the damage caused by harsh ingredients. Putting adult skincare products, or products loaded with fragrance, parabens, and sulfates, on a 12-year-old athlete's skin isn't just unnecessary. It's counterproductive.
The Nudl 4-step routine was built around what active young skin genuinely needs:
Step 1 — Fresh Nudl (Cleanser) An SLS-free, fragrance-free cleanser gentle enough for daily use — even twice daily during heavy training periods. Chamomile and aloe calm post-sweat inflammation and redness without stripping the skin's natural barrier the way harsh cleansers do.
Step 2 — Balanced Nudl (Toner) This is the step most people skip — and for young athletes, it's the one that matters most. Our toner contains a unique mineral ferment complex — zinc, copper, magnesium, iron, and silicon — that directly replenishes the minerals lost through sweat. Pea peptides support skin repair and developing collagen. Comfrey extract soothes irritation from friction and environmental stress.
Step 3 — Glow Nudl (Serum) Hyaluronic acid holds up to 1000 times its weight in water — making it one of the most effective hydration tools available for skin constantly depleted by outdoor training, cold air, and wind. Clean, simple, and extraordinarily effective.
Step 4 — Hydra Nudl (Moisturizer) Our hero product. Chaga Mushroom — one of the most powerful antioxidants found in nature — directly counters the oxidative stress caused by intense physical activity and sun exposure. Combined with two forms of hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, shea butter, and avocado oil, this moisturizer doesn't just hydrate. It actively supports skin recovery.
Four steps. Five minutes. Everything their skin needs after every practice, every game, every tournament.
To the Sports Moms Reading This
You already know what it means to be all-in for your kid. You're the one up at 5:30am for ice time. You're the one packing the cooler with the right snacks, tracking the sleep schedule during tournament weekends, asking the coach about recovery protocols.
You think about everything that goes into your young athlete's body and performance.
Nudl is asking you to think about what goes onto their skin too.
Because the same philosophy you bring to nutrition and training applies here. Clean ingredients. No harmful chemicals. Formulated specifically for the demands of a young, active body. Made by a Canadian mom who went through her own health journey and came out the other side unwilling to compromise on what touches her daughters' skin.
That's not a marketing message. That's the reason Nudl exists.
What Hasn't Changed
Nudl is still for every tween and teen — not just athletes, and not just girls. The products work for all skin types, all genders, and all kids who deserve a simple, clean routine they'll actually stick with.
What's changed is our focus. Our community. Our conversation.
We're showing up in the places sports families live — on the sidelines, in the team group chats, at the tournament check-in tables. We're talking to the parents who understand that recovery doesn't stop at the final whistle.
And we're building something that will grow with your kid — from their first routine at 9 years old through their teenage years and beyond.
One Last Thing
I built Nudl for my daughters, Gia and Avi. Two kids who love sports, live in their bodies, and deserve to put good things on their skin without it being complicated.
If that sounds like your kid — welcome. You're exactly who Nudl was made for.
